My dad is considering purchasing a
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
for $19k. It was previously a rental from the VIN check, and it has a few slight cosmetic defects. The dealer owes us a favor, and has offered to either repaint the offending panel, or throw on a hitch.
So what are your opinions on this truck?
P.S. my dad is very particular with his purchases, and only buys something when he can pay in full. I don’t know if this helps, but if its CP, then we know we can take our money elsewhere.
UPDATE: I KBB’d the price. Result below.

19k is WAY too much.
$9,000 sounds more like it.

Coming from someone who has one, 19k is waaaaay too much unless it's a v8. If it is a v8, grab it. It's awesome and will hold its value well.

Based on those pics, yes. I don't see any v8 badging. It could have been debadged though, I looks like it's a high enough trim level to have it, in which case NP.

The ad says it’s a 5cyl.

Oh—and the hitch assembly is actually a different bumper assembly on these. Make sure the dealer knows what he is doing...

$9k with 72,000 miles? Dealer wants 20,500 for any other customer, but he’s our cousin.

Correct. It’s a stripper as far as we know.

So what do you think optimal asking price would be?

I’m in the market for a regular cab colo/canyon but i’m at the bottom where your dad seems to be at the tippy top.
any real need for the crew cab? seems that he could easily put a bit more down for a 2015 canyon.

I actually didn’t even notice that there was a link until after I replied...
Well, CP, then. Even with really low miles I wouldn’t go over 12-14k (Canuckistani$) for a really nice one.

$19k is full-size V8 money of a similar year with similar miles. I love these Canyonrados but CP.

I’m a fan of the Colorado. Although personally I’d never buy an ex-rental vehicle. I know what people like me, who bought the insurance and are damn well going to get their moneys worth out of it, do to rental vehicles.

The KBB value would be around $13,000.
No offense, but it sounds like a bit of a ripoff.

Aesthetics, mostly. But he does haul my siblings around often.

I actually didn’t notice you had a link... Just looked at it, this guy is out of his mind. I5, 75k miles, body damage, $20k US asking? Walk away.
When I bought my truck (v8) I paid about 19k CANADIAN before taxes. For a truck with 63,000 KILOMETERS. And no aesthetic defects. And nearly loaded (missing sunroof).
I would say that he shouldn't be asking more than 10-11k. Even then, it's probably a bit high.

Or, V8 Colorado money for half the miles.
This thing isn't worth a dime over 11k in my book, considering body damage.

good looking truck - offer 16,500, walk away before you get to 18,000, (unless you are actively overpaying to help your cousin.)

Crack pipe. This was probably a $25k truck when it was new. It has only depreciated ~$1k/year over 5+ years? I just did valuation on edmunds, and it came out to be $12,953 Dealer Retail for 75,000 miles and average condition. I may not have gotten the options exactly right, but it gives you an idea.
